Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) Congratulates Winners of 2026 Enugu City International Marathon

The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has congratulated the winners and participants of the 2026 Enugu City International Marathon, which held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Enugu State.

In a statement signed by the Southeast Director of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Fidelis Kene Chiekezie, on behalf of the Federation’s Governing Body, the NWF commended the athletes for their outstanding performances and the Enugu State Government for successfully hosting the international sporting event.

The Federation particularly congratulated Kenya’s Edwin Kipyogo, winner of the men’s 42-kilometre category, and Ethiopia’s Zennebe Aberu, winner of the women’s 42-kilometre race.
The NWF also extended its congratulations to Habtamu Girma and Shiferaw Daltiemayo, who finished second and third respectively in the men’s category, as well as Negashu Chatiu and Adugna Mahley, who placed second and third in the women’s category.

The Federation further applauded Nigerian athletes Gang Boyi, Davwi Gyany and Pam Joshua for securing the top three positions in the 10-kilometre men’s race.

According to Chiekezie, the marathon represents an important milestone in the development of sports, tourism, youth engagement and international sporting relations in Enugu State.

> “Events of this magnitude demonstrate the capacity of Enugu State to host major international sporting competitions and provide opportunities for athletes to showcase their talent. We celebrate the athletes and commend the organisers for promoting sports, healthy living and tourism.”

The NWF expressed optimism that the marathon would continue to grow in subsequent editions and further strengthen Enugu’s position as an emerging destination for international sporting events.
