Fresh developments have emerged regarding the long-awaited demand for an additional state in the South-East region of Nigeria. Reports monitored by Throwback Times via Sun Cast News 24 reveal that Etiti State and Anioma State have progressed to the final consideration stage, with one of the two now likely to become Nigeria’s 37th state and the 6th state in the South-East.
This milestone reportedly followed a high-level consultative session held in Lagos, marking one of the most decisive steps toward addressing the geopolitical imbalance that has persisted in the region since the creation of Ebonyi State in 1996.
The renewed momentum in the National Assembly has been credited to two prominent lawmakers from the South-East:
Hon. Amobi Ogah — Sponsor of the Etiti State Bill in the House of Representatives.
Sen. Ned Nwoko — Sponsor of the Anioma State Creation Bill in the Senate.
A widely circulated photograph captured the two legislators shaking hands warmly following a unanimous committee-level endorsement to move forward with the state creation evaluation process. However, only one of the proposed states will be approved at the final constitutional ratification stage.
Reacting to the development, Fidelis C. Kene, Coordinator of the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation (NPWF) and licensed customs clearing agent, expressed appreciation to both lawmakers for what he described as a “historic stride toward restoring regional balance and representation.”
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Ned Nwoko and Hon. Amobi Ogah for boldly championing the interests of the South-East. This milestone revives hope for equity, identity, and development for our people,” Kene stated.
He further emphasized that the progress transcends politics, representing a generational achievement with implications for jobs, infrastructure growth, cultural pride, and fair representation.
